Yes, there will be a CulinaryWoman Newsletter this Labor Day weekend. Or should I say Labour Day, since we are returning to Montreal.
We’ll take a look at Epices de Cru, the shop started by spice trekkers Philippe and Ethne de Vienne. If you’ve been to their store in Montreal’s Marche Jean-Talon, or Zingerman’s Deli, or done a search for spices online, you know their products.
As with countless merchants in the food world, their business was turned upside down by COVID-19. I’ll tell you how they re-organized physically and virtually, and which spices have soared in popularity with stuck-at-home cooks.
There also will be a tribute to my friend Julia Reed, and an advance look at a cookbook devoted to pie.
Be sure to invite your friends and networks to subscribe. And if your plans keep you away from a screen this weekend, please set a reminder to read CulinaryWoman when you are back online.
See you Sunday!
