The Detroit Institutes of Art is one of my favorite places. I’ve been visiting since I was a toddler, and have seen every type of art, from Rembrandt and Van Gogh to Diego Rivera and Jacob Lawrence.

This fall, the DIA is shining a spotlight on historic traditions in dining, from a region it has not highlighted in the past.
