The Great British Bake Off heads into its finale

The good news is that the Great British Bake Off had a much sunnier 2023 season than in recent years. The bad news is that it has lately been slipping back into “Paul Hollywood and everyone else mode.”

That was particularly evident in last week’s episode, Patisserie Week. Alison Hammond was feeling poorly and was not on camera (although she was well enough to do voice overs later). Noel Fielding had to handle co-host duties alone, and after years of teasing and sparring with Paul, he probably did not have the steam to tell him to chipper up.

In any event, we now know who is going to this week’s finale. Spoiler below and a reminder to stay off social media until you can watch Netflix if you don’t want to know who wins the coveted glass cake plate this week.
