Bonus Podcast: My Dining Recommendations For Dearborn
Places I visit regularly and think you would like
After I wrote about The Art of Dining exhibit at the Detroit Institute of Arts, several readers asked for my recommendations in Dearborn, Mich.
Here’s a podcast episode in which I talk about places to eat. Many of these places are on Instagram, and regularly post photos of their dishes and special menus.
These are some of the places I mentioned. Several of them have multiple locations, so check their websites and/or Google Maps to find the most convenient for you. Please let me know if you visit!
Shatila Bakery (mail order available)
Hashem Coffee and Nuts (mail order available)
Papaya Market (mail order available)
Great list! I worked in Dearborn for over 30 years and I moved to the UP when I retired. I sure miss the food. I’ll add another to your list: New Yasmeen Bakery. It has less sweets than Shatila, but their deli is fantastic. Be sure to get the fatayer! Baked in a wood fired oven. I liked going there for lunch and bringing back some of their fabulous middle eastern sweets and French pastries to the office that are just as good as Shatila. I’d bring home some of their bread and hummus and baba back home to our house in Ann Arbor. Sure miss that place
