Happy 2021. You made it through 2020. That, in itself, is an accomplishment.
I’m not a believer in New Year’s resolutions. Instead, I believe in hopes for a new year.
At the start of a year, I write a list that’s titled, “Here’s What I Hope Happens This Year.”
“Hope” is not only spiritual, it’s practical. I learned long ago that we don’t control everything. We do the best we can, but there will always be something unexpected in life.
Rather than be thrown off kilter because things didn’t line up the way we planned, we work around whatever didn’t. For instance, look at my list. None of them were on my mind at the beginning of 2020.
So: here are some hopes for 2021.
1) The vaccine distribution goes more smoothly, and vaccinations speed up.
2) Cases and hospitalizations drop precipitously.
3) Restaurants re-open inside.
4) We can set aside our masks in normal circumstances (we will still wear them in crowds).
5) It’s safe to travel.
6) We remember the lessons the pandemic taught us.
Do you have some hopes for 2021? I’d love to hear them. Happy New Year!
Just a reminder that there’s no newsletter this week. See you again on Sunday, Jan. 10.
