I realized after this morning’s newsletter went out that one of our family’s quirks inadvertently made an appearance in the email version.
The correct title of the show is High On the Hog.
Not High Off The Hog, as I unconsciously typed.
There is a reason for that mistake. It stems from my grandmother, who spoke English as an additional language after she arrived in America from Latvia. (Not “second language,” since she spoke at least five.)
My grandmother occasionally mis-learned some English expressions, which my mother subsequently repeated in telling us stories about her. She thought the phrase was “high off the hog” and that stuck in my brain.
Since High On the Hog is about our ancestors, I hope you’ll forgive me, but I want to make sure you find the right program.
