A few weeks ago, I made a trip to Home Goods in search of plain white salad plates. As I was guiding my cart down a side aisle towards the dinnerware section, I spotted something I hadn’t seen there before.
Stacked at the end of a row (an end cap in retail speak) were cases holding half a dozen full-sized bottles of Italian sparkling water. They were marked $4.99. I put one in my cart and took it up to the front register to double check the price. Was it $4.99 for one bottle? I asked. No, the clerk said: the price was for all six bottles, or less than $1 each. She advised me to buy two cases.
“Some people come here just for the food,” she said. No surprise, given such reasonable prices.
I definitely enjoy browsing the gourmet aisles at my two local Home Goods, part of the TJX discount empire. To be sure, TJ Maxx stores have their own food sections.
But the ones in Home Goods tend to be more extensive, offering an array of discounted gourmet food from all over the world.
Here are some sections that I regularly visit.
