Two years ago tomorrow, Satisfaction Guaranteed officially went on sale. I remember the long wait between the time I turned in the manuscript, and the publication date (or pub date, as the phrase goes). It seemed to drag by, then time accelerated into a wave of interviews, events and reviews.
I’m tickled every time someone mentions that they read it. I’m pleased that I’m still being invited to talk about it. And I’m happy that illustrator Joel Holland let me have his original drawing for the cover. He recently published a new book, London Shopfronts, and I hope you’ll check out his work, too.
In this week’s excerpt, I’m looking at the Zingerman’s business that helped keep the entire company afloat during the pandemic, and which is probably the best known outside of Ann Arbor: Mail Order.
