Last week, I got a gentle nudge from the British Corner Shop. “Micheline, your birthday offer expires in two days!” it read. I received a lot of birthday offers this year, but that email was enough to prompt me to visit their website, a place all too familiar to me.

Ever since my first visit to London in college, I have been entranced by British groceries. They are pure comfort food, from scones and cheese to tea, jam and sweets. The Great British Bake Off has given everyone a sense of how cozy British baked goods can be. British grocery stores are like GBBO on steroids.
