At the end of my tour of Michigan libraries, I had an unexpected opportunity to spend the weekend on the Leelanau Peninsula. There was a vacancy in a brand new AirBNB condo above the Grocer’s Daughter gelato and espresso shop in Empire.
Not only were the surroundings beautiful, the condo gave me a chance to cook after a week spent in hotels. (That is the view out my window.) It came with a well-equipped kitchen, and that allowed me to shop at the farmer’s market in Sutton’s Bay, and elsewhere, as I told you in the newsletter.
In the process, I realized that you can go astray when you are away from your pantry and the things you are used to having at your finger tips.
