In 2016, I traveled to the U.K. to stay for a week at the Balmoral estate and visit the Royal Windsor Horse Show. My London travels coincided with a meet up of American members of Les Dames d’Escoffier with the London chapter. While I couldn’t join all the events, the London Dames allowed me to attend the Sunday lineup.

Our itinerary included a visit to the Duke of Cambridge, a well-regarded gastro pub, and to Divertimenti, a fantastic cooking gear shop in Kensington. Divertimenti is known for its cooking classes, and has a space for demonstrations. That’s where we settled in to hear a talk by Bee Wilson, who is among Britain’s most notable authors on food.
