Dessert Week And Familiar Techniques

When you hear the narrator on The Great British Bake Off say, “they’re this year’s youngest baker,” you can pretty much count them out of contention.

In fact, the youngest baker has only won once. Peter Sawkins, then 20, was the winner in 2020, when the show faced real hurdles during the Covid season.

More on the loser later. This week’s GBBO theme was Dessert Week, which allows the show to pull pretty much anything out of its hat. “For me, it’s the best week of the year,” declares Prue.
