Happy Monday, everyone! I was looking at the statistics for this week’s newsletter, and wanted to get your opinion.
Are story links helpful? Or should I skip them, as long as I attribute my source?
I’m asking because only two percent of you clicked on a link this week. That’s consistent with the results for links that I’ve seen in the nearly two years that I’ve published CulinaryWoman. (Our anniversary is next month.)
I’ve always felt links added integrity. They show that J didn’t make things up. They!re also a way to be generous and promote other peoples’ work, whether an article, a cookbook or a program. If I link to something, I hope you will check it out.
However, the overwhelming majority of CulinaryWoman readers don’t click away. That is definitely a compliment, since it says you’re here to read the newsletter. But if you don’t read them, that is a message to me that you don’t need them.
So, let me know how you feel about links. You can reply to this email or post a comment. Thanks for your feedback!
I appreciate the links and often click through to read them. Periodically the info (usually an article) on the "other side" of the link is protected as subscriber only - such as the Wash Post - but that's OK. I've ordered some of your noted cookbooks from websites when you've included a link to a (non-local to me) book store and wouldn't have done so otherwise w/o the link.
I like links.
